The students are Clodagh McGovern, an optical management student from Anglia Polytechnic University and Hannah Bartlett, who is studying optometry at Aston University. They will join the VAO team whose work includes setting up a teaching programme for local nurses. Applicants to the bursary were asked to describe an aid pro- gramme for a refugee community and prioritise basic needs such as food and water, inoculations and health education. Chairman of the trustees Nigel Wingate said: 'All the trustees were most impressed with the standard of entries which came from nine of the dispensing and optometric colleges and universities.'
