Future of optics discussed at moot evening

The future of optics was the panel discussion topic at the latest in a series of informal moot evenings organised by the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM).

Automation in optics was a keenly debated subject said the WCSM, as attendees discussed how it was already starting to eliminate the need for OOs to perform refraction and how DOs made measurements.

‘The role of the optometrist in clinical assessments cannot be “delegated” to a machine,’ said the panel on the night.

The event concluded with wine and canapés provided by sponsor ABDO. More events are planned for later in the year.
