Maurice Brown has retired as managing director of Tunbridge Wells-based prescription laboratory Gilco Optics after 40 years in the trade.
At a surprise retirement dinner attended by existing staff and former colleagues, Brown was presented with gifts from his co-director Keith Stevens, accountant Melvyn Carter and the rest of the company staff.
Stevens, now sole owner of the company, wished Brown and his wife a happy retirement and said that he and his staff looked forward to building on the company's established reputation for providing a quality product and high level of service to the profession.
