GOC appoints new interim chief executive

The GOC has announced that Lesley Longstone has become the interim chief executive and registrar.

This appointment follows Adam Sampson’s departure from the role to a permanent CEO role. Longstone has worked in the employment, education, youth and criminal justice fields both nationally and internationally.

Gareth Hadley, GOC chair, said: ‘Lesley’s expertise will help us to further our work in speeding up the complaints process while ensuring it remains scrupulously fair; and her background in education will be of huge benefit as our CET Review and Education Strategic Review ensure the optical workforce is fit for the future.’
