
The General Optical Council (GOC) has reappointed registrant member, Lisa Gerson, to its Council for a further four-year term, along with lay member Ros Levenson and registrant member Poonam Sharma.
Gerson, a qualified optometrist with over 30 years’ experience, currently supervised student clinics at Cardiff University.
Levenson, an independent researcher, evaluator and policy consultant on health and social care issues, has worked for several statutory and voluntary organisations and published extensively on health and care.
Sharma, a community optometrist, hospital clinician and diabetic eye screening practitioner, also served as a visiting tutor at City University.
Chair of council, Dr Anne Wright CBE, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Ros Levenson and Poonam Sharma to the Council, and also warmly welcome the reappointment of Lisa Gerson. They join the GOC at a critical time, as we prepare to launch our new strategy for 2025-30.’
