The General Optical Council (GOC) has announced plans to appoint two new members to its Council – one registrant member and one lay member.
With the GOC embarking on its next five-year strategic plan through to 2030, these are a particularly important few years for the organisation.
These appointments will help ensure the successful implementation of this plan while continuing to protect the public by upholding high standards in the optical professions.
The GOC has particularly encouraged candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply to ensure it reflected the communities it served as a regulator.
Successful candidates will contribute to the Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance and making high-level policy decisions. The Council governs the GOC and sets its strategic direction.
They will succeed lay member Clare Minchington and registrant member Roshni Sharma, whose eight-year tenures will conclude in March 2025.
