GOC erases Banchory-based optometrist

Fitness to practice

The General Optical Council (GOC) decided to erase Robert Fyfe, an optometrist based in Banchory in Scotland, from the register by reason of misconduct.

A GOC fitness to practise committee found Fyfe’s fitness to practise impaired in relation to failing to send on a vision report from a sight test conducted on a patient.

He also misdiagnosed patients, failed to maintain adequate records, failed to conduct adequate sight tests and failed to urgently refer a patient to the hospital.

Fyfe has until January 8 2024 to appeal against his erasure and remains suspended from the register until this date.
