The General Optical Council (GOC) has erased North Shields-based optometrist, Richard Carr, from its register after actions under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
A GOC fitness to practice committee determined his fitness to practice was impaired, following a conviction of voyeurism under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 in October, 2023.
Carr was convicted of installing a recording device in a women’s toilet at his workplace, for the purposes of sexual gratification.
He installed the device to observe another person doing a private act, knowing they had not consented to being observed.
