GOC hearings

The GOC is holding fitness to practise hearings for optometrists Edward John Elgar Hopkins on January 23 and Simon Anthony Rose on January 26.

The Council alleges that Hopkins sent abusive letters to a third party pretending that they had been sent by a patient, and had used confidential records for an inappropriate purpose.

Rose is alleged to have issued an Rx without justification to a patient at a Surrey nursing home in July 2004, failed to record to an acceptable standard history and symptoms, ophthalmoscopy findings and visual acuity/retinoscopy results and allowed the patient to be dispensed photochromics without justification.
