General Optical Council interim chair, Anna Bradley, has hit back at comments from the Association of Optometrists that the Council is trying to hurt the profession.
In a letter to Optician, Bradley describes the idea, suggested by AOP chief executive Bob Hughes (News 13.08.10), that the GOC was trying to hurt the profession as 'extraordinary and ill-founded'.
Bradley stated there was no suggestion that fee increases for 2011-12 would be as great as those over the last two years.
Government proposals for UK regulators to fund the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence would not impact the 2011-12 increase.
