GOC learns about homeless clinic’s work

Birmingham’s Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) clinic received a visit from the GOC familiarisation team to share charity work.

Elaine Styles, chair of the VCHP Trustees, welcomed the group of five, who came from varied backgrounds within optics.

‘It was great for us to inform them how valuable optometric care can be for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. We showed them how it can be delivered in a professional and caring manner, in an environment that people experiencing homelessness feel comfortable in,’ Styles said.

The GOC team consisted of Lynn Emslie of the Registration Committee; Mike Galvin of the Education Committee; Haseena Lockhat of the Standards Committee; director of change Philipsia Greenway and head of hearings Vineeta Desai.
