The GOC has opened retention for 2012/13 with the fee cut for the second year in a row to £260. Optometrists, dispensing opticians and for the first time, optical businesses can now use the MyGOC section on www.optical.org to apply.
Philip Hallam, GOC head of registration, encouraged all registrants to apply without delay, describing registration as an important legal requirement.
Practitioners who do not apply by the March 15 2012 deadline will face a £20 late application fee. Registrants who fail to renew their registration by March 31 2012, including payment of the late fee, risk removal from the registers after April 1 2012.
