The General Optical Council posted a notice on its website that a 'technical error' had resulted in a 'small' number of registrants having been wrongly included in the list of those removed from the Opticians Registers as of April 1 2009, as Optician went to press (Tuesday).

The Council said that it was taking steps to identify and contact all affected registrants. It added that a revised list will be sent to employers, primary care organisations and professional bodies as soon as it is available.

The GOC is advising any registrant who believes that they may have been affected to contact the registration team on 020 7580 3898, option 1.
