Views on the General Optical Council's (GOC) five-year strategy commencing in 2010 are being sought by the Council which launched an open consultation on the issue this week inviting registrants, members of the public and other stakeholders to have their say.
Feedback is invited on a range of issues including on what the GOC's role should be in relation to patients and how should the Council work with other organisations to protect the public. Other questions in the consultation include how should the Council support registrants who raise concerns.
GOC chair, Geoff Harris said: 'We need to ensure the GOC's role and work priorities remain relevant and proportionate in the future. To help us achieve this, we are encouraging both the public and the optical professions to get involved from the outset.'
