GOC seeks two panel visitors

Regulation

An expansion of the General Optical Council's education visit panels will see the addition of two new members.

The regulator said the positions would be taken up by optometrists, dispensing opticians, ophthalmologists or lay people with a background in higher or further education.

GOC head of education and standards Linda Ford said: 'The work of our visit panels is vital to our public protection remit. The panels ensure that education institutions are giving their students the best possible preparation for their careers. This includes talking to tutors, staff and students about the course as well as assuring that GOC core competencies are being taught and assessed.'
