GOC suspends Bradford dispensing optician

Bradford-based dispensing optician Joshua Smith has been suspended from the General Optical Council (GOC) register for a period of six months.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found Smith’s fitness to practise to be impaired by reason of misconduct in relation to intending to obtain free contact lenses for an individual through falsifying records, not using a prescription to place an order and not collecting payment.

Smith has until December 6 to appeal against his suspension, during which time he is suspended from the register under an immediate suspension order.
