GOC suspends optometrist

A locum optometrist has been handed an interim suspension by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee, amid allegations he did not comply with the conditions of an earlier order.

Legal representatives for optometrist Mark Morgan, who was given an 18-month conditional registration order in March for dishonestly recording tonometry examinations, accepted the suspension.

However, Morgan's legal representative did not accept GOC allegations that Morgan had breached the conditions of his order, deliberately or otherwise.

The GOC claimed Morgan had breached his order by practising at both Boots Opticians and Scrivens Opticians, despite his terms that he should confine his practice to positions within Scrivens.
