An optometrist has been given a warning by the General Optical Council's fitness to practise committee after being convicted for possession of a number of drugs at Plymouth magistrate's court on October 10, 2008.

Lloyd Collins was convicted for possession of amphetamine, 2.9 grams of ketamine, 0.4 grams of cannabis, 36.03 grams of magic mushrooms, 0.145 grams of 2CE and 0.548 grams of 2CB.

In deciding his fitness to practise remained unimpaired, the Council took into account that there were no issues of addiction in the case, that Collins was not involved in supplying drugs and that there was no connection with his work. It also noted the way the offences were at the lowest end of the scale of seriousness, how 'frank and open' Collins was about his past and how he admitted professional misconduct.
