Hakim hosts event for pre-regs

Pre-registration optometrists working across Hakim Group practices met at an educational retreat hosted by Bennett and Batty Opticians in Liverpool.

The event provided an opportunity to socialise with peers and share experiences of the challenges faced during their pre-reg year.

Patrick Richardson, IP optometrist and optometry clinic manager at Ulster University, delivered practical and clinical theory sessions to the students.

It was Hakim’s first event designed specifically for pre-regs as part of its new support network and it provided educational and personal development guidance. Bausch + Lomb also supported the event.

Claire Slade, head of governance and professional advancement at Hakim Group, said: ‘When people are working independently, it can feel like they’re on their own, so we wanted to bring them together as collective to make sure that they had that support network, not just with each other, but with the brilliant practitioners across the wider Hakim Group as well. It’s part of our culture to help people fulfil their career aspirations and their dreams, and hopefully inspire them to do something great clinically.’
