New research by Optegra uncovers the lies told by patients during eye exams

Over half (54%) of Britons have lied to their eye care professional about their eye health and the standard of their vision, new research has found.

A poll of 1,912 of adults by eye health group Optegra also found that nearly one in ten respondents lied due to the desire to wear glasses despite not requiring them.

The research was carried out to learn more about attitudes patients had towards their eye health, as well as how honest they are with opticians during appointments. A total of 44% said they wanted to impress their optician and avoid any criticism and 34% said they felt awkward and panicked into giving rash, untrue answers.
