Halma snaps up Visiometrics

Halma has acquired Visiometrics, an objective refraction specialist for up to £91.2m.

Visiometrics designs and manufactures instruments used to measure objective visual acuity, and claims to detect very early stages of cataract. The deal includes operations based outside Barcelona, Spain and Visual Performance Diagnostics, which is located in Aliso Viejo, California.

An initial €18m (£13.1m) will be paid at closing while deferred contingent payments up to €69m (£50.4m) will be paid based on the profit performance of Visiometrics over the next three years. Deferred contingent consideration up to €40m (£29.2m) will be paid in royalties over the next five years with a maximum total consideration of €125m (£91.2m).
