Norwegian optometrist Hans Bjoern Bakketeig has been named 2012 International Optometrist of the Year by the World Council of Optometry (WCO).
Bakketeig, pictured with WCO president Tone Garaas-Maurdalen, was nominated by the Norwegian Association of Optometry for his contribution to 'Help Moldova' e_SEmD a project which trains ECPs in the country.
On his success, Bakketeig said: 'This award is very special, and I will share it with all the people who work with me and my family, who support me to do this work. Optometry has given me many challenges and happy moments, and I am glad to call myself an optometrist.'
