Those who will be affected by the revalidation scheme for optometrists and dispensing opticians are being invited to help shape its development.

Five consultation events are to be held by the General Optical Council (GOC) on February 8 in Cardiff, February 10 in Manchester, February 16 in London, February 18 in Edinburgh and February 19 in Belfast. The Council is keen to hear feedback from patients, the public, registrants, employers, other regulators and stakeholders on its revalidation proposals which will be introduced in January 2013.

GOC deputy registrar Jon Levett said: 'The introduction of revalidation changes the regulatory landscape in optics, and will affect registrants, employers and patients alike.'
