The sunglasses use the company's own patented PolarizedPlus lenses, with a seven-layer structure that eliminates glare and, according to the company, give 100 per cent UVA/UVB protection. To reduce 'bounce-back' glare behind the lens, layers of anti-reflection coating have been applied. The lenses also receive a waterproof coating to shed water and make them easy to clean. The range offers a choice of three lens colours: neutral grey for bright sunlight; bronze for glare reduction and added contrast on hazy, overcast or foggy days; and rose for contrast and image resolution for fast-action sports. To give a personalised fit, frames which feature temples with metal cores can be adjusted by applying low heat. The frames also have spring hinges. Shapes include modified classics such as a number of aviator styles to wraparounds, ovals and modified rectangles in plastics and monel metal. The company started in the early 1980s selling sunglasses on the beaches of tropical island Maui, Hawaii. This year has seen the introduction of a European office based in Perols, France, under the direction of vice-president European operations, Michel Joffre.
