Hepburn retires from film role

Sylvia Hepburn has retired as regional sales manager for coating specialist Siltint after a career which began 23 years ago.

She began working as a receptionist for a practice in Birmingham, before moving to West Midlands-based Alecto Optical as production assistant and later as company representative. Ms Hepburn then joined Essilor, becoming the first female sales manager for an ophthalmic manufacturer, and continued in a sales managerial role at Sola before joining Siltint in 1996. 'It's been hard work but it's been fun,' Ms Hepburn commented. 'I've worked for the best in the business and I will miss all my friends in ophthalmics.' Batemans do celebrates 25 years Dispensing optician Cathy Neller, of Batemans Opticians in Newbury, Berkshire, received a long-service award this month in recognition of her 25-year career with the optical group. Ms Neller, who started working at Batemans' practice in Havant, Hampshire during her school holidays, later joined the Newbury branch in 1974 before becoming manager in 1987. The company's chairman, Nicholas Bateman, was on hand to present Ms Neller with flowers and her award.
