Domiciliary services provider The Outside Clinic has reported a considerable increase in the number of enquiries from practitioners seeking assistance in taking over the eye care requirements of elderly patients who can no longer make it to the practice.

Speaking to Optician at Optrafair, the Outside Clinic's head of human resources, marketing and media, Lynda Oliver, said: 'One of the most surprising things that we have found at Optrafair is the number of opticians who are approaching us because they are finding it hard to do their own domiciliary work.

'They are finding it increasingly difficult to get out of the practice to see their domiciliary patients and we are happy to assist them.'

According to Oliver, at Optrafair the company was seeking to place optical staff at all levels in 'hot spot' areas such as Plymouth, Torquay, Exeter, Brighton, Lincoln, Inverness and Aberdeen.

The Outside Clinic's current recruitment campaign is in line with a strategy to increase national coverage.
