Horkin sees beauty of holistic approach

Lancashire-based Spex Opticians boss Kevin Horkin has expanded his five-practice business by opening a cosmetic medical centre this month.

Horkin is celebrating 25 years in optics and owns practices in Accrington, Burnley, Rawthenstall, Ramsbottom and Clitheroe, where the York Cosmetic Medical Centre is based.

Spex Opticians already organises the National Celebrity Spectacle Awards, offers a wide range of designer frames and even a teeth-whitening service, but Horkin said he is always looking for new ways to expand the business.

'I feel we've reached a plateau in optics because there are only so many patients and there is a lot of intense competition.
