Hoya has announced the launch of its BlueControl lens coating designed to neutralise blue light emitted by digital screens and prevent eye strain.
Over-exposure to blue light emitted from computer and TV screens, smartphones, tablets and GPS devices caused eye strain, eye fatigue and sleeplessness, Hoya said.
The coating was also said to reduce glare and enhance contrast, and could be offered in combination with Hoya's Hi-Vision LongLife anti-reflection coating.
Petri Eskola, product specialist of Hoya Vision Care Europe, added: 'Of all spectacle wearers using digital equipment on a daily basis, 83 per cent indicated they experience eye discomfort during or after use.'
