Hoya Vision Care has committed to achieve 100% renewable electricity throughout its global operations by 2040 with an interim target of 60% by 2030.
The lens company said it would also reduce the environmental impact of water usage in its manufacturing processes and focus on programmes to reduce, reuse and recycle packaging.
Environmental commitments were made as part of Hoya’s One Vision sustainability programme that aimed to address the business’ impact on the world, communities and its employees.
Alexandre Montague, CEO of Hoya Vision Care, said: ‘As a global business, we have a clear responsibility to focus on climate change, work with and give back to the communities where we operate, including reducing the vision health gap and to build a strong, highly trained workforce filled with career opportunities to ensure a robust future. We have all the pillars in place and are excited to continue on our One Vision journey.’
