Ophthalmic lens manufacturer Hoya has been awarded the international standard ISO 14001 accreditation for its commitment to the prevention of pollution in the environment.
The company, which previously received the ISO 9002 and Investors in People award, says it has developed a new environmental management system to control its interaction with the environment and comply with its environmental policy. - Hoya Lens UK's export achievements were also recognised in the 1999 Exporter of the Year Awards. The company, which opened its mass production plant in 1997 to grow exports to Europe first, then America and Japan, was a finalist in the New Exporter award category.
