Almost half of final year optometry students have completed a new contact lens education course touring the UK

J&J STEP PROGRAMMEAlmost half of final year optometry students have completed a new contact lens education course touring the UK.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies’ newly-established Success Through Education Programme (STEP) has enrolled 300 students.

So far, students from Anglia, Aston, Bradford, Cardiff, City, Glasgow, Manchester and Plymouth universities have experienced the courses.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Companies has also visited 75 per cent of penultimate year optometry students on campus.

Sheetal Patel, manager of The Vision Care Institute, said: ‘We are fortunate to have the backing of so many university optometry departments as it means we are able to support their students as they progress through their career.

'Already, almost 500 penultimate year students are interested and excited about being part of STEP next year, accounting for more than three quarters of next year’s final year optometry graduates. That bodes well for the long-term success of the programme and the vision care industry as a whole.’
