Frame firm Ic! Berlin has introduced a new member to its product family with the innovation of 'plastic berlin'.
The company described the new frames as a 'sensational and singular crossing between spring-steel and acetate'. Benefits include the play with colours and the typical Ic! Berlin features of screwlessness, flexibility and comfort through ultra-light, high-tech materials.
The new styles team the company's metal hinge clip with an acetate front piece and formable acetate temples.
The first models have multifaceted curves, in contrast to the typical flat sheet-metal frames. As well as classic, high-gloss black, or 'obsidian', all models come in UV-sterilised acetate, or 'diamond'. Feminine models are finished in 'citrine', named after the warm light-brown gemstone, while masculine models come in topaz - a dark, smoky brown tone. They feature a transparent stripe on the front piece.
Models are Alois, a middle-sized men's design; Resi, a flat, extrovert women's model; Johann, a smaller, conservative men's style; the butterfly Ernestine; the bigger Maximilian for younger wearers and Bernhard, offering clear lines and sharp corners.
