
Ilford-based optometrist Lokesh Prabhakar has been suspended from the GOC register for nine months after his fitness to practise was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct.
A committee heard that he failed to carry out adequate eye examinations and failed to maintain adequate records between 2017 and 2019.
Concerns were raised in 2019 about Prabhakar’s recording of tonometry results by optical assistants at the branch of Asda Opticians where he worked as a locum.
The optical assistants noticed that Prabhakar’s recordings of measurements for intraocular pressure in patient records did not correspond with those obtained during pre-screening.
Prabhakar was suspended from Asda Optician’s locum database while an investigation took place, which included a review of other practices he’d worked at for the multiple.
