
Birmingham-based optometrist Imaad Amanat has been suspended from the GOC’s register for six months after his fitness to practise was impaired by reason of misconduct.
A committee heard that Amanat inappropriately assisted a student registrant with their pre-registration requirements by taking part in an illegitimate contact lens end of trial consultation.
The consultation had been arranged by the student and Amanat admitted to attending the trial to assist the registrant, which was inappropriate for the student to become a fully qualified registrant.
He then interfered with and obstructed the disciplinary and investigation process into the matter by being dishonest.
