Ilford optometrist receives six month suspension

Ilford-based optometrist Simon Rose has been suspended from the GOC’s register for six months after his fitness to practise was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct.

A fitness to practise committee decided his actions were inappropriate and dishonest in relation to failing to assess and accurately record clinical information.

Rose also retrospectively amended clinical notes to cover up any failure to make an adequate record of previous sight test results.

The allegations related to the registrant failing to conduct an adequate sight test of a patient and failing to diagnose them with glaucoma while under his care between 2018 and 2020.
