Scottish optometrist Andrew Maynard has been suspended from the GOC’s register for 12 months after failing to meet conditions outlined in a previous fitness to practise order.
This followed a substantive hearing in November 2023 whereby Maynard was found guilty of misconduct due to poor record-keeping, inadequate examinations, and failure to make urgent referrals, subject to 18 months registration with conditions.
In September 2024, a GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired on public protection grounds after neglecting to provide evidence of compliance, a reflective statement in a review hearing or a personal development plan.
