Blackburn-based optometrist Christopher Hurst has been suspended from the General Optical Council’s register for six months after a fitness to practise hearing.
A committee found his fitness to practise impaired on public interest grounds in relation to being convicted of an offence under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on April 19, 2021 at Preston Crown Court.
The offence related to carer ill-treatment and wilful neglect of a person without mental capacity, which Hurst admitted to in its entirety.
Further details about the determination were not made public because they related to the registrant’s health and the third party.
