Implantable Vision said it was close to a deal to acquire patents and intellectual property for $1m from CIBA Vision for an ‘inside-the-eye’ contact lens.

The company said it expected to complete the deal this week, with CIBA retaining a royalty of 78.5 per cent on sales for two years, 7 per cent for three years after and then 5 per cent.

The Denver Business Journal reported that Implantable Vision was planning to test its corrective lenses in European and other world markets before trying to win FDA approval for the implantable lens, which was intended as an alternative to Lasik.
