Anti-VEGF injections appear to be effective in the management of subfoveal and juxtafoveal choroidal neovascularisation (CNV) secondary to high myopia, but visual gain decreased to insignificant levels at the end of a two-year study. In the study published in Ocular Surgery News, 19 highly myopic eyes of 18 patients with subfoveal or juxtafoveal CNV were treated with three-monthly doses of Avastin in a non-randomised, interventional case series. Mean best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved from 0.54 logMAR at baseline to 0.40 logMAR at one year (P=.04).
