An estimated 150,000 patients were affected by limited access to effective treatments because of a shortage of ophthalmologists, long waiting lists and underutilisation of surgical technologies.
Glaukos published the findings from a roundtable event held in March 2024 at Scottish Parliament to discuss challenges and propose solutions with other stakeholders in ophthalmology.
It was hosted by Stuart McMillan MSP and chaired by former director of NHS Lothian, Heather Tierney Moore, with representatives from Optometry Scotland also in attendance.
