Concerns about the environment, evolving patient pathways and advances in teleoptometry have been highlighted for 2025. Alice Thébault spoke to industry experts to find out what to anticipate

Paul Carroll, chair of the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC), discussed the actions the OFNC will take to put eye health on the government’s agenda in 2025.  

According to him, the OFNC will continue collaborating with its primary care partners to support the government’s three big shifts. 

The most important of these, in the view of the OFNC, was the aim to shift care from hospital to primary care, with high street optometry as ‘a prime example’ of where change can be achieved. 

‘Of course, for this to happen, the aim of digital to analogue must also feature prominently,’ he said.
