Optician is sad to report the death of optical industry sales representative Colin Croft.

Simon Belson, group manager and partner of Belson & Sons Opticians was both a client and a friend of Croft’s.

‘I knew Colin for most of his optical career,’ said Belson. ‘Colin was a sales representative within the industry for well over forty years and worked for many companies including Contactasol, CooperVision, Marchon, Marcolin, De Rigo, Maui Jim, Charmant, The Eyewear Company, and more latterly, Silhouette.

‘He was professional in the extreme and could never be accused of a hard sell. He was genuinely passionate about the products and companies he represented. He was always respectful to practice owners and staff alike, as well as competitor sales representatives and agents. He loved his work, the people, and best of all pie, chips and baked beans in the local café.

‘Prior to his career in optics, Colin served with the Irish Guards for six years, and was immensely proud of his time in the armed forces.

‘Colin is survived by his wife Sarah and four daughters, who he always spoke about with great pride. In fact, despite his illness, Colin’s finest hour was walking his daughter Lucy down the aisle in October 2021 and was so looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in August.’
