Independent challenge felt across Europe

Pan European challenges were tackled by participants at the European Ideas Forum (EIF) including Sight Care Group this week.

The forum’s 2014 meeting was hosted by United Optics of Austria in Vienna, with Sight Care chairman Gavin Rebello and chief executive Paul Surridge both attending the event.

Surridge said: ‘It was clear from this year’s forum that the deep recession experienced in the UK in recent years had been mirrored across Europe, with the exception of Switzerland which had continued to grow its economy.

‘Whilst it’s accepted that each country has its own unique way of delivering independent eye care, the commercial challenges were similar, but often approached from differing perspectives.’
