Independents must embrace new technologies to fightback, Bausch and Lomb conference hears

New technologies have a crucial role to play in helping independents fightback against the corporate sector practitioners heard at a Bausch + Lomb organised business support meeting last month.

Around 50 independent practices attended the conference and heard that some estimates put the share of the spectacle market held by the independent sector as low as 15 per cent and the share held by Specsavers as high as 49 per cent.

To fightback independents needed to play to their strengths of customer service, specialist knowledge and continuity to maintain and build on their share of the market, the gathering at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield heard.
