Interim order extended for OO

An interim order placed on optometrist Anthony Plimmer in June 2010 has been extended by the General Optical Council's fitness to practice committee following a review.

The order was placed on Plimmer after it was alleged he failed to identify or record patients' history and symptoms, issued incorrect prescriptions, failed to detect potential glaucoma cases and showed a lack of record keeping relating to patients whose visual acuity fell below the minimum legal standard for driving.

The committee held a number of review hearings after the original determination and noted that the interim order was due to expire in December 2011.
