The University of Essex develops technology for prescribing tinted lenses

The University of Essex has teamed up with Cerium Visual Technologies to develop technology for prescribing tinted lenses with a fully digital system.

Designed and developed by visual stress expert Professor Arnold Wilkins, from the University’s Department of Psychology, the Intuitive Colorimeter offered thousands of colour variations to people who suffer headaches, blurred vision, discomfort or word movement while reading, a statement said.

Professor Wilkins said: ‘I have had positive feedback from many patients; from a young boy who said he could now read the whiteboard at school to adults who have suffered head injuries and strokes and are helped to read again. It is very rewarding.’
