Irish chain opens first franchise

Northern Ireland's largest independent optical chain, Mackey Opticians, has announced it will open its first franchised practice in Carnmoney County Antrim at the end of the month.

Neil Robinson, operations manager for Mackey Opticians said: 'I feel that this is a very positive step forward for the business and I am confident that this will not be the only one of its kind in the province. Our franchisee Michael Allen has worked for the company for many years and he felt the time was right to set up in his local area under the Mackey Opticians brand.'

Managing director Chris Mackey added: 'I am sure Michael will do very well as our first franchise partner, and will be a template for future opportunities.'
