James Conway, the third generation of his family to run the frame and case business Optoplast, has joined the board of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians.

The FMO said Conway knows the optical business, both in the UK and internationally, and would bring a ‘fresh dynamism’ to the FMO. Conway, joint-CEO of the Optoplast Group, said he was looking forward to bringing a fresh perspective to the FMO. ‘As a business Optoplast is active in manufacturing and wholesaling so I believe I have something to offer in terms of ideas and enthusiasm. Optics has changed beyond belief in the time of my family’s optical business and we are keen to embrace developments and seek new opportunities for the sector.  I look forward to being involved and in highlighting some issues that we all face.’
