According to a new study, fitting patients with Johnson & Johnson Vision Care’s new-generation silicone hydrogel contact lenses can alleviate some of the common problems experienced by patients wearing standard hydrogel lenses, for example dryness and discomfort.
The study, in the latest Eye and Contact Lens, estimated the prevalence of problems in current wearers of soft contact lenses and tested the effect of refitting these with Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus.
In the initial study, where 1,092 current soft contact lens wearers were evaluated to calculate the prevalence of six common signs and symptoms associated with contact lens discomfort, 23 per cent of the subjects reported dryness, 13 per cent reported discomfort and 27 per cent reported at least two hours of uncomfortable wear each day.
