Contact lens optician John Coxon has died aged 64 after a brave fight with an illness over the past year.
Coxon qualified as a DO in 1968 and entered the family business, but it was his keen interest in contact lenses that was to build his career and gain recognition in the modern optical business. Having gained the ADO Honours Diploma in Contact Lenses, he was appointed contact lens director of the Miller & Santhouse Group. When the company became a part of Boots Opticians in 1989, he continued to work in various senior contact lens management positions within the company until his retirement in 2004.
